Vivien Yap: Evaluation Q.3) What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

  • Our film certificate is 12, portraying characters coming of age also the protagonist's family problems.
  • Choosing the title We Will Shine, was to hint the audience that there is an element of drama and through our promotional package, but also comedy.

Trailer

- The framing of Ruby was not right as the audience is unable to see the protagonist which confused them.

- The transition between the shot of Ruby and Arabella. The shots was not align with each other and we needed to represent the change from the past to the present.

- Changing this shot made a difference as the audience are able to notice the change much quicker.

-Recording the sound of traffic for more continuity, this is for the transition of shots for the smooth soundtrack.

-A smooth soundtrack is essential to determine the mood of our trailer and therefore continuity of the sound will fit all the shots together.

- Shorten clips to make it much more frequent, allocating more time for more shots.
-For example, Cydney’s shot needed to cut the extra dialogue, ‘guys’ as audience receive the point from Cydney’s dialogue.

Poster

- Needed a certificate to display the target/suitable audience for the film.

- Realising that the certificate was important to promote our film to the audience.
-Positioning of the festival, appears out of place.
- The tagline ‘you will shine’ needs to be taken out as it sounds similar to the title.

- Using ellipses to emphasise the work ‘fade’ and to also represent the drama genre.

- making sure we do not exclude people who participate in our coursework. It was important to include all cast involved in our production as they helped us through our coursework.

Magazine

- Adding texture in the background for more depth to the magazine, linking to our magazine masthead ‘Depth’.

- The main photo is over-exposed and need to changed.

- Change font of masthead to suit the colour scheme of the magazine.
